Dave Goodwin is the Interim Chief of Police for WUPD. He oversees the day-to-day patrol operations of the department. Goodwin has a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice from Northern Michigan University (NMU) and has worked in the law enforcement and campus security field for over 28 years.
Goodwin enlisted in the Michigan Army National Guard in 1986, was commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant in 1992 after completing the Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) program at NMU, and currently holds the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. Goodwin is a decorated veteran of Operation Iraqi Freedom, and currently serves as an instructor for the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College. He is a published author and has written two books about the history and hauntings at military bases around the country.
