The medical assistant apprenticeship program, established by Human Resources, was the first of its kind in the State of Missouri. The program was recently recognized by the US Department of Labor as an Apprenticeship Ambassador, a recognition awarded to employers committed to increasing access and support for underrepresented and underserved populations by creating and promoting registered apprenticeship programs.

Kathy Clark, manager of the medical assistant apprenticeship program, has worked to train and graduate hundreds of medical assistants, creating a pipeline of clinical support at the institution. The program continues to expand and Human Resources is now working to evolve to other fields of practice, such as clinical research and patient care support.
